"Dear diary, found a place near the Mended Drum that serves excellent curry. The owner has a house cat, too. Mustn't forget to give Binky a new set of horseshoes. Oh, yah, collected 5 souls today and missed my appointment with Rincewind yet again."
I painted this back in the summer of 2004. It's heavily inspired by Discworld - especially the first Discworld adventure game that was released for PC! Oh the sweet memories!
Tools: Photoshop and the tiniest Wacom Intuos 1. I think it was A6 size back then.
I really like your interpretation of the quirky, pseudo renaissance world of Ankh Morpork, the jumble of houses and the never straight lines and angles. The moonlight is beautifully done and that hint of mist gives a great atmosphere. You have captured Death really well, the fact that he is an anthropomorphic personification for death, who just happens to like cat's and curry and writes a diary. There is something odd about the perspective where his sits though, as if he's actually sitting half way out into the street rather than inside a room. That however is what I call nitpicking. This one will hold pride of place in my favourites.
